French Quarter is one of my favorite moderates at Walt Disney World along with it’s sister resort, Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

Disney’s Port Orleans has a Southern Charm theme throughout the entire resort including Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside rooms average $311 to stay at this southern themed resort. Rooms at this moderate resort are 314 square feet, so they are slightly bigger than the value resorts.
Check-in time is 3:00PM at the front desk and check-out time is 11:00AM.

What is the difference between the Riverside and the French Quarter?
These two resorts are sister resorts connected by the Sassagoula River. Riverside’s Theme is southern charm and features the Princess and the Frog while French Quarter is themed for New Orleans.
Riverside offers preferred rooms and 5th sleeper rooms for families and is a much larger resort. The two resorts are pretty similar.
Is Port Orleans French Quarter closed in 2024?
Rooms are being renovated from May of 2024 to November of 2024, the resort is not closed for these renovations. You may hear construction work during the day while staying here.
Transportation
All four Disney theme parks have complimentary bus service from Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside. There are also many bus stops located around the resort so you don’t have to walk to the main building to use transportation. The bus stops are called North Depot, East Depot, West Depot, and the Main Building has a stop as well. Check the map above for the closest bus stop to your resort room.
There is also complimentary boat service to Disney Springs. If you want to head to the water parks like Typhoon Lagoon, you can take the boat or the bus to Disney Springs and then catch a Typhoon Lagoon bus from there. The boats bring you to the back entrance of Disney Springs so you will have to walk across to the bus transportation if you choose that option. It is much easier to take a bus if you want to go to the water parks.

How long is the boat ride from Disney Springs to Port Orleans French Quarter?
The boats run every 20 minutes from 10:30 AM–11:30 PM. Sometimes the lines can be long and you may have to wait for multiple boats. If the water is too low, the boats may not be available.
The ride takes about 20 minutes with stops to get to Disney Springs. The boat entrance is towards the back of Disney Springs near Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.
Can you walk from Port Orleans Riverside to French Quarter?
It’s about a 10-20 minute walk from Port Orleans Riverside to Disney’s French Quarter along the Sassagoula River.
How long does it take to get from Disney Port Orleans to Epcot?
It takes about 10 minutes to ride the bus from Port Orleans French Quarter to EPCOT. Buses run every 20 minutes, though you may have to wait if you just miss the bus. I would plan about 50 minutes to get to EPCOT.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort is also 10-15 minutes away from Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
How long is the ride from Port Orleans Riverside to Magic Kingdom?
It takes about 20 minutes to ride the bus from Port Orleans French Quarter to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Sometimes French Quarter and Riverside share buses and the extra bus stops can add time to the ride.
Buses run every 20 minutes, though you may have to wait if you just miss the bus. I would plan about 60 minutes to get to Magic Kingdom.
Do French Quarter and Riverside share a bus?
Not always, but sometimes they may share buses. Usually French Quarter is the first stop for pick-up and drop-off if sharing buses.Â
Dining and Shopping
There is no table service restaurant option at Pot Orleans French Quarter. Port Orleans Riverside does have a table service option and is a short walk or boat ride away if you are looking for a sit down place to eat.
There are a few quick service dining options available.
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
The Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory serves American and Cajun/Creole style food. This ia a quick service dining option located in the main building. You can use mobile ordering on the My Disney Experience App for this food court style dining option.
The food court is about $15 per person to eat here.
Scat Cat’s Club
There is a Scat Cat’s Club Lounge as well as a Cafe. The lounge often has live music featuring Jazz and is open from 5PM to 12AM and serves cocktails and limited food offerings. The cafe is just outside the lounge and features the famous beignets.
The beignets are a must try if you are staying at this resort! We have been known to take a bus to french quarter just for this delicious treat. There may be limited dining experiences at French Quarter, but they are delicious options!
Mardi Grogs
This pool bar offers cocktails and some light snacks or lunch perfect for your pool day.
Jackson Square Gifts & Desires
All Disney resorts have a gift shop that offers souvenirs, toiletries and basic pharmacy items plus snacks. Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter’s gift shop is called Jackson Square Gifts & Desires.

Mardi Gras at Doubloon Lagoon Pool
French Quarter’s main pool and only pool is a Mardi Gras-themed pool called Doubloon Lagoon Pool. Join King Neptune at this Disney resort hotel pool with Sea Serpent Water Slide. French Quarter also has a hot tub for guests to enjoy as well.

Yes you can use the pools at Riverside if you are staying at French Quarter. Choose from the main pool, Ol’ Man Island Pool, or one of the 5 leisure pools at Disney’s Riverside Resort.Â

- Horse Drawn Excursion – Carriage rides are available at Riverside. Ride a horse-drawn carriage along the Sassagoula River for $65. This ride is about 25 minutes long for 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children. Reservations are required for this activity and can be made 60 days out.
- Bike Rentals & Surrey Bike Rentals – $9 to $20 to rent a bike or Surrey bike to ride around the resort
- Fishing – Rent fishing gear and fish in the Fishing Hole
-  Jogging Trail – Run or walk the mile long trail along the Sassagoula River.
- Playgrounds – Located next to the main pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside & Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. Both playgrounds are available for guests at both resorts.
- Medicine Show Arcade – Located at Riverside in Colonel’s Cotton Mill building.
- South Quarter Games Arcade – Located at French Quarter in the Mint Building.
- Character Meet and Greets – You will find unannounced, spontaneous visits from various characters outside the main building of Riverside. We were able to meet Princess Ariel here.
