Walt Disney World’s newly implemented Disability Access Service (DAS) is now active and exclusively available to guests with developmental disabilities, including autism and related conditions. Here are the key points you need to know before your next vacation:
- No more in-person interviews at the park; live video chats are available from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm every day, up to 30 days prior to park arrival
- There are no preselecting rides before arriving at the parks.
- The DAS pass will only cover a total of four (4) people, so three (3) guests and the DAS pass holder (1).
- There is a “cooling-off” period of 10 minutes after using the first scan.
- If approved, your pass will last 120 days before you must renew, up from the previous 60 days
- If you’re caught cheating the system, you will receive a lifetime ban from Disney World
Disney is teaming up with Inspire Health Alliance to help Cast Members determine eligibility.
Rumor has it that up to 60% of all Lightning Lane scans were people using the previous DAS pass. It became popular after folks on TikTok would show others what to say(lie) to Cast Members to be given access.
All queue lines are accessible via wheelchair and ECV, and the DAS was never meant for guests with mobility issues.
No doubt this is controversial amongst other guests that experience “hidden disabilities”, but you are encouraged to apply.
What happens to those who must leave the lines while experiencing an episode?
With the updated Return to the Line policy; Disney advises those to speak to the nearest Cast Member and exit the queue. The family members or group they are with will hold their place in line – upon returning the Cast Members will help the guest get back into line.
