Meeting characters at the Disney Theme Parks is the best way to add magic to your next trip. Meeting Disney World Inside Out Characters is no exception.
Inside Out is a Pixar film from 2015 that follows Riley, a young girl, and Riley’s emotions that she experiences as her family moves to San Francisco. The movie also follows the emotions of Riley’s Mom and Riley’s Dad as well.
Inside Out 2 introduces new emotions that teenager Riley begins to feel as she’s growing up. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you can still watch it at Disney Springs in the AMC Dine-In theater.
Disney fans can enjoy Inside Out at the parks with character meet and greets, merchandise, Disney PhotoPass lenses, and more.
Who are the Inside Out Characters?
Inside Out and Inside Out 2 are both from Pixar Animation Studios. New emotions were added to the list when Inside Out premiered in theaters in June.

What Characters Can I Meet From Inside Out at Disney World?
Currently the only character you can meet at Disney World is Joy. Sadness used to be at Disney World and sadly no longer meets there, but you can still meet her along with Anger at Disneyland. None of your other favorite characters from Inside Out or Inside Out 2 have ever been available to meet at Disney World.
I would love to see Fear, Disgust, and Bing Bong make appearances with Joy.
Meet Joy at Pixar Plaza
You can meet Joy at Pixar Plaza at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This meet and greet is set in headquarters (Riley’s head) where Joy works in the movies.
Currently showtimes start at 9:30AM and end at 4:30PM though this is subject to change so be sure to check the My Disney Experience App for the latest news.
This photo op does have Disney PhotoPass Photographers available.
Joy started meeting at Pixar Plaza on June 10th 2024 right before the new movie release of Inside Out 2. There is no word on how long Joy will continue to meet at this location. You can also meet other Pixar stars at this location, currently you can meet Joy along with Edna Mode from Incredibles.
Disney World Theme Parks Food, Drinks, and Merchandise
These are available June, July, and August 2024.
- Inside Out 2 Petit Cake: Layers of vanilla chiffon, peanut butter mousse, and strawberry jam with crushed peanuts and crispy pearls. You can find this treat at Amorette’s Patisserie.
- Feeling Kinda Blue-berry Chai Iced Latte: Blueberry chai iced latte with notes of clove, cinnamon, and orange blossom. Find this treat at Amorette’s Patisserie. There are also 3 places at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, The Market Outdoor Cart, Neighborhood Bakery, and Catalina Eddie’s.
- Frazzled Float: Minute Maid Passion Fruit Orange Guava juice, Sprite, vanilla soft-serve, and chocolate sauce topped with candied orange and chocolate bark. Find this treat at Epic Eats at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Inside Out Kids’ Cup: Found at 50’s Prime Time Café, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater.
Does Joy Still Meet at EPCOT?
Joy does not have a meet and greet in EPCOT as of the date of this answer. You used to be able to meet Joy at the Imagination Pavilion in EPCOT. Currently you can meet Figment at Imagination Pavilion.
It is rumored that Joy will return to this location when the Hollywood Studios location closes though Disney has not released that information.
Sadness and Joy both had a meet and greet at the Character Spot in EPCOT until Joy was moved to Imagination Pavilion. Sadness did not make the transition with Joy to Imagination Pavilion.
Can I Meet Joy at Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom?
Joy does not have any meet and greet locations in either Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Disney’s Magic Kingdom at this time.
Can I Meet Inside Out Characters at Disneyland?
You can meet Joy and Sadness at Disney California Adventure Park at Pixar Pier. Another place to meet Joy, Sadness, and Anger are at Pixar Fest in Fantasyland Theatre until August 4th 2024. You can also get a collectible medallion at Pixar Fest at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff Medallion Machine.
There are many other ways to enjoy Inside Out at Disneyland. There is an Inside Out 2 PhotoPass Lens at Disneyland Resort when you purchase the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Disney Genie+).
You can view the water short before World of Color called Emotional Rollercoaster featuring the characters from Inside Out. This is a limited time experience so be sure to catch it now!
Animation Academy at Disney California Adventure is a fun activity for Inside Out fans to learn how to draw Anger, Anxiety, Joy, and Sadness.
You can view Inside Out 2 artwork at the Art Gallery at Pixar Place Hotel on the 2nd flor of the hotel.

Tips to Find Disney World Characters
To find the latest Disney parks news and characters head to the My Disney Experience App.
1. Click on the location symbol at the bottom of the map. You will see a map of Disney.
2. Where you see “Wait Times” click on that and a drop down menu will appear.
3. Click “Characters”
4. Click “Show List” on the upper right hand side of your screen.
5. Scroll down through the list of current character meets. They are in alphabetical order, find Joy in the list and click on her name. This will list all of the places, times, and locations that you can currently meet her.You can also view her meet and greet on the map and get directions to her meet and greet.
You can find out what characters will be walking around and what time they will be there as well as all meet and greet locations using the interactive maps for characters. This is a great way to have new experiences with characters in the parks.
Joy may be a limited time meet and greet for guests of the Walt Disney World Resort so make sure you meet her while you can! Joy is sure to being happy memories to your family on your next Walt Disney World vacation.
