Whether it is a fun Disney picture frame, or a shirt with your favorite attraction, buying a souvenir is the perfect way to bring home some of the Disney Magic. When most guests budget for their Disney trip, the cost of purchasing gifts and souvenirs is often overlooked.

Buying items at the Disney Theme Parks can be very expensive, and most guests who budget for gifts often don’t plan on spending the amount they pay.

So, how can you save money and still purchase some great gifts and souvenirs to bring home? One of the best-kept secrets in Orlando is the secret Disney outlets. Here, guests can buy Disney gifts and souvenirs at a fraction of the price they would spend in the Disney Theme Parks.

Most merchandise at Disney’s Character Warehouse is 50-80% off, a great way to save money on your Disney Vacation. With extra cash in your budget, you can spend more on ticket purchases, dining, and additional magical experiences on your magical vacation.

What is the Disney World Outlet Called?

The Disney Outlet in Orlando is called Disney’s Character Warehouse. Unlike the typical Disney-themed gift shops in Orlando, this outlet is Disney-owned. Here you can purchase Disney brand products, not the knockoffs most Disney gift shops sell.

You can buy all kinds of Disney merchandise at Disney’s Character Warehouse, from your favorite set of Mickey Ears to a Disney Costume for your kids to wear to the Disney Parks.

There are many shops near Orlando and Disney that say “Disney Gifts” and these are not official Disney store locations. These stores do not cary Walt Disney World Merchandise.

What Items Might You Find at Disney’s Character Warehouse?

The merchandise at Disney’s Character Warehouse is updated often, and their items are constantly changing. It can be hard to know what you will find when you visit. You may find Disney Cruise Line stuff, past season items, special Loungefly bags, Christmas Merchandise, and even new overstocked items at these Disney outlet stores.

There is a vast array of Disney Parks items, you never know what you are going to find!

Some items you can typically find while visiting Disney’s Character Warehouse are:

  • Mouse Ears
  • Disney T-shirts
  • Disney Action Figures
  • Disney Character Costumes
  • Christmas Ornaments
  • Disney Parks Food items
  • Items from special events such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival
  • Loungefly Backpacks

A great group to join on Facebook is Shop the Magic as they do runs to both the Character Warehouse Stores and the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Which Disney Orlando Outlet is Better?

Both Disney’s Character Warehouse locations offer great Disney merchandise at a fraction of the retail price. If you don’t have your own vehicle and are looking for the closest option to Disney, the Orlando Premium Outlet Mall on Vineland Avenue is the best option for you.

This option is closer to Walt Disney World and offers many of the same items as the I-Drive location. You won’t have to get on the dreaded I-4 if you go to the Vineland Ave location which is located near Disney Springs.

If you have your own vehicle and don’t mind driving a little further, the Orlando International Premium Outlet is typically less crowded than the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlet. Because they are less crowded, they often have more in stock, which allows you to have the opportunity to find more items. The International Drive location is closer to Universal Studios.

Both stores are outlets, so their merchandise is constantly changing, but the I-Drive location has more items available, with fewer crowds. The Vineland Ave location is closest to Disney World.

How Often Does the Disney Outlet Restock?

Both Disney’s Character Warehouse locations get new items in and are restocked daily. It is important to remember that these outlets are overstock and past-season merchandise from Walt Disney World, so you may not find the items that Disney is currently selling at the Disney Parks in the outlet stores.

Every day new items are added to each store. It is all in the luck of the draw what will be there when you visit. You never know what you will find when you visit, but usually, after a season, you will start to find the merchandise that was in the parks at the outlet stores. For example, in early November, Disney takes away its fall décor and merchandise.

You can typically find it in the outlet stores at the end of November or early December. But that does not mean you won’t still find fall décor in the spring or summer.

Both stores are busier on the weekends, so weekday mornings are your best bet if you are looking to beat the crowds. Because cast members are restocking the shelves daily, visiting in the morning also lets you choose from the best selections.

Do Disney Outlet Stores Sell Disney Pins and Magic Bands?

The merchandise at Disney’s Character Warehouse is changing daily, but great deals are always available. Some of the best deals you can find are on their Magic Bands and Disney Trading Pins. The Magic Bands can be found for as low as $1.99 at the Disney outlets, over a 70% savings. Disney’s Character Warehouse usually is stocked with Disney Trading Pins and starter sets.

In the Disney Parks, these Pin starter packs typically start at over $30 a box, and in the Disney outlet, they can be found for as low as $12.95. Some individual Trading Pins can also be found for as little as $3.00 each. Some pins may be old, but they can trade them up for their favorite characters when they visit Disney Parks.

Can You Use Disney Gift Cards at Disney’s Character Warehouse?

You can use your Disney Gift Cards at Disney’s Character Warehouse. Both locations take Disney gift cards, and this is the perfect place to let your little ones come to spend any gift cards they may have.

Here, you can get more “bang” for your buck on great Disney merchandise. It is recommended to bring your kids to Disney’s Character Warehouse before heading to the parks. This way, they can bring their new Disney toys and outfits to Disney.

Does Disney’s Character Warehouse Accept Discounts?

Because the merchandise is so marked down, they do not accept any discounts such as Annual Pass, Disney Vacation Club, or Disney Visa Card. But don’t worry, the prices here are still excellent, and you will save a tremendous amount of money without the discounts.

It is highly recommended to visit Disney’s Character Warehouse before heading to the Disney Theme Parks. The Disney outlet often has Mickey ears, Disney Trading Pins, cute Disney outfits, and gear to bring along to your day at the Disney Parks. You will have huge savings purchasing your merch at Disney’s Character Warehouse vs. waiting and buying the items at the Disney Theme Parks.

For example, a Disney t-shirt in the park is usually about $35.00. At Disney’s Character Warehouse, you can find Disney t-shirts for as little as $4.00. You can buy shirts for everyone in your family for the same price as one in the Disney Parks.

I recently stopped by the Disney outlet and found some fantastic deals for our family. One of the best deals we have found at Disney’s Character Warehouse is the Disney Spirit Jerseys. We were able to find a Disney’s 50th Anniversary Spirit Jersey that retailed at the Disney Parks for $119.99 at the outlet for $13.99! A deal like that you won’t want to pass up on! The Loungefly Minnie Backpack Red and Black edition, which is regularly $95.00, was on sale for $57.99.

Again, the merchandise here changes often, so you never know what you’ll find. It’s worth heading over to Disney’s Character Warehouse before you visit the park to see if they have any items you like.

If you can’t find the Mickey ears or shirt you want here, you can always find the most current items in the park, but it is worth a try to find them at a discount at the outlet. If you have time after visiting the Disney Parks to hit the outlets again, stop by and see if they have anything new before heading back home. It’s great to stop before heading home for gifts to bring back to your family and friends.

You can always find recent selections at the outlet on youtube like this one from Main Street Orlando.

Do the Cast Members Shop at Disney Outlets?

Maybe, I’m sure they do on occasion as they do get a discount at the outlets on top of the already cheap prices. That’s a perk of being a cast member.

They have an even better shopping experience on actual Disney property at at store called Cast Connections. Disney offers folks even in the Disney college program cheaper groceries, and other rare Disney items.

You’re only allowed to go there if you are a cast member or escorted by one. So I say make friends with as many cast members as you can.
