Spring is the perfect time of year to visit Walt Disney World, especially during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. The weather is beautiful, the flowers are blooming and there is even an Epcot butterfly garden tent that you can visit.
The butterfly garden is one of our favorite things about the festival. If you love nature, flowers and butterflies you will really enjoy yourself here. It is a great way to get up close with nature, and be surrounded by gorgeous butterflies that flutter all around you. If you are patient, you may actually even see one emerge from a chrysalis in the chrysalis houses.
This is a must visit for us every time we attend the Flower and Garden Festival. It is a great break from the lines of the outdoor kitchens and food booths in the World Showcase, and is very relaxing in a tranquil setting.
Where is the Epcot Butterfly Garden Tent Located?
The Epcot butterfly garden is a large greenhouse style tent located in World Nature. It is in between the Land and Imagination Pavillions. The entrance is brightly colored, with butterfly topiaries on the outside. Once you turn the corner past the Land, you can’t miss it!
What is the name of the Epcot Butterfly Garden?
The Epcot Butterfly Garden is sponsored by Advent Health, and it is called Butterfly Landing. In previous years it has been called Bambi’s Butterfly House and was full of Bambi signs and characters.
This year, Butterfly Landing is specifically focused on bright colors and learning about the butterfly life cycle, native plants and pollinator plants that attract pollinators.
Tips for Exploring the Epcot Butterfly Tent
This is a must visit for us every time we attend the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. It is a great break from the long lines of the outdoor kitchens and food booths in the World Showcase. It has a very relaxing and tranquil setting.
The inside of the tent has a u shaped walkway full of flowers, water features, water falls, and tons of educational signs and information to learn about.
Get the most out of your visit to see the beautiful butterflies with these tips for exploring Butterfly Landing.
Visit in the Morning
Morning is a great time to get Epcot before the food booths open and the crowds start pouring in. There will most likely be no lines to enter the tent. Less crowds inside the tent means more opportunities to take everything in, and visit with the butterflies.
Since it is tucked away in World Nature, it isn’t normally as busy as some of the other Festival offerings, so we have visited it late in the afternoon and still had a great time. Just make sure you get there before the sun goes down as it closes at dusk.
Wear Bright Colors
Butterflies are attracted to bright colors. We saw many people wearing flower mickey ear headbands and the butterflies were fluttering all around their heads! If you are wearing bright colors, the butterflies will be very curious and come close to you and think you are a butterfly bush.
They are also very attracted to the brightly colored signs of information that are located all over the tent. If you are looking for the butterflies, you will find them on anything that has bright colors.
Read the Signs
I was blown away by all of the educational signs and information about butterflies and pollinator plants. There are signs everywhere you turn inside the tent.
Every plant is labeled with detailed information. If you find a plant that you love, make sure to take a picture of the sign so you can remember to pick one up at your next trip to your local garden center.
We especially enjoyed the signs that identify and explain the different types of butterfly species and what plants they are attracted to.
There are even large signs outside of the tent with even more butterfly gardens and tips for planting your own garden in your yard at home.
Final Thoughts
We hope that you add a visit to the Epcot Butterfly Tent on your list when you are at the festival. It really is a special treat for garden and nature enthusiasts. You will be exposed to butterfly species that may not be native to where you live, like the Zebra Longwing – the Florida state butterfly.
You can even see important butterfly species like the monarch butterfly that is now classified as endangered. May you leave inspired to create your own relaxing and colorful garden for the butterflies when you get home from your Disney Vacation.
