Face Masks Are Optional At Disney World Starting 2/17

BREAKING NEWS – The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida has made the decision to drop the requirement that the face coverings be worn while indoors for vaccinated guests. There has been no mention of requiring proof such as a vaccination card. UPDATE No one will check for vaccination cards.
We do recommend bringing masks with you, if you show symptoms while on vacation at the Disney World Resort, or need it to travel in any transportation system such as Uber/Lyft, or need to catch a flight home.

Masks are no longer sold inside the park as previously you could find Disney themed masks for sale. This was stopped roughly two weeks ago. This also comes after the competitor Universal dropped the requirement for masks in their parks yesterday.

When does this go into effect?

Per the Disney World Website: February 17th, 2022. So you will still need to wear a mask while indoors on attractions, bathrooms, or restaurants until the 17th!

The complete statement reads:

Beginning February 17, 2022, Face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations. We expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters. Face coverings will still be required by all Guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner.

Do I need a mask to use Disney Transportation?

Yes! Don’t forget your mask quite yet! All Disney Transportation such as the Skyliner, Monorail, or Bus still require that guests 2 and up have a face covering. We anticipate this will continue to be the case until federal guidelines changes (basically until you don’t have to wear a mask on a plane).

Do you have to show a vaccination card at Disney World?

No. No one will check it – and they will not deny entry to the parks, resorts or restaurants.

  1. How are they going to enforce this?
The honor system won’t work. Too many anti-vaxxers are also anti-maskers.

  2. Florida will not allow for vaccine passports so technically they can’t check for your status. So I guess everyone can go mask free! We live in florida and Disney was the only place we wore masks. This is exciting news!
